Russia should be more than alarmed! According to the BBC, their beekeeping industry derives their honey from bumblebees. Good luck with that!
Media reporting inaccuracies, this occurs daily with news reporting. The articles purport to be factual, written as authority pieces. We the consumers take the information, run with it, and form opinions based upon lazy, flawed and distorted articles.
So, let me get a few things off my chest here! I despise lazy reporting.

Honey bees are battling their own global pandemic, for which they were utterly unprepared. A parasitic mite, aptly named Varroa destructor, originally infested only colonies of Asian honey bees, Apis cerana, but jumped to infect Western honey bees, Apis mellifera, the species that dominates the modern commercial pollination around the world.

''If the #bee disappeared from the surface of the globe, man would have only four years of life left; no more #bees, no more pollination, no more plants, no more animals, no more man.”

Alice Calaprice, in The Ultimate Quotable Einstein, traces the statement to an edition of The Irish Beekeeper published in 1966.
